Navigating Auto Safety: Liability, Technology,
and the Claims Landscape

Session 1
8:40–9:40am

Auto-related exposures remain one of the most challenging risks for employers today. This session will explore strategies for managing contingent auto liability, the risks tied to personal vehicle use (Hired/Non-Owned) and fleet safety.

Learn how emerging technologies, including telematics, AI-powered analytics, fatigue detection, and real-time reporting are shaping the future of fleet and driver safety.

Gain insights into the insurance implications of rising auto claims, from social inflation and nuclear verdicts to litigation funding, and how these trends affect both the auto and umbrella markets. Attendees will leave with strategies to build safer driving programs, leverage data responsibly, and mitigate costly claims.

Increasing Psychological Safety Through
Supporting Employee Mental Health:
A Risk Management Perspective

Mental health is increasingly recognized as a critical workplace safety issue, with stress and burnout directly impacting employee well-being, retention, and organizational performance.

Keynote speaker Dr. Leslie Hammer, Director of the Oregon Healthy Workforce Center, will share research-backed strategies on reducing stress, improving supervisor support, and fostering a culture of psychological safety. Her work demonstrates how supportive supervision can improve health outcomes, reduce work-family conflict, and help employers retain top talent.

Following the keynote, a Stoel Rives employment law expert will outline employer responsibilities under the ADA, FMLA, and accommodation laws, highlighting the risks of non-compliance and opportunities to design policies that support mental wellness. Attendees will leave with both practical tools and legal insights to build more resilient, supportive workplaces.

Session 2
9:50–11:25am

Elevate your organization’s safety strategy at Woodruff Sawyer’s Risk & Safety Symposium in Portland. This in-person event will bring together industry experts to tackle today’s most pressing challenges - from managing auto liability and leveraging emerging technologies, to addressing workplace mental health and strengthening organizational resilience. Attendees will leave with actionable insights and innovative strategies to better protect their people, reduce risk, and build a culture of preparedness.
